The Project Site Safety Manager is a subject matter expert in project site safety, focusing on the development, implementation, and monitoring/enforcement of best practices for construction safety across the company's operating divisions. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of our project sites, which involve the installation, start-up, and commissioning of our automated material handling solutions. The Project Site Safety Manager will report to the Sr. Manager QHSE and Continuous Improvement and will work closely with project teams and customers to ensure a safe working environment and successful project delivery outcomes.

The Project Site Safety Manager is a subject matter expert in project site safety, focusing on the development, implementation, and monitoring/enforcement of best practices for construction safety across the company's operating divisions. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of our project sites, which involve the installation, start-up, and commissioning of our automated material handling solutions. The Project Site Safety Manager will report to the Sr. Manager QHSE and Continuous Improvement and will work closely with project teams and customers to ensure a safe working environment and successful project delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a safety program centered on best practices for construction safety at project sites.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections at project sites to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams on safety matters.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs specific to construction and project site activities.
- Investigate incidents and accidents at project sites to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Collaborate with sales managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
- Liaise with customer representatives to ensure mutual understanding of, alignment on, and compliance with site safety standards and practices. Coordinate with sales managers, project managers, and other stakeholders for early identification of change order opportunities in relation to extraordinary customer requirements relating to project site safety.
- Take the lead in resolving customer concerns in relation to BEUMER activities on site.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics for project sites.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes related to construction safety.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred. PMP certification desired.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a field safety management role within the construction or material handling industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and standards, including OSHA standards for design and construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- This role has no direct reports but requires strong leadership and influence skills to drive a culture of safety and accountability at project sites.
- Travel up to 50% to various project sites within North America.
