What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at FAMCO Service & Machine?
Seeking candidate to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, industrial equipment, such as cranes, earth moving equipment, crushers, shredders, shears, balers and conveyors, etc. used in the industries we serve.
Overview of skills required
- Work safety using all types of PPE as required.
- Inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment.
- Evaluate and repair / replace damaged or worn parts.
- Test machinery and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper operation.
- Perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Mic bores and install bearings on all types of equipment.
- Inspect parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and vernier calipers.
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace assemblies, such as transmissions, travel shafts, swing shafts, torque convertors…….
- Assemble shaft and gear assemblies.
- Alignments such as motor, drive shaft and gear.
- Weld, repair, and fabricate in all positions.
- Read and understand basic hydraulic schematics and symbols.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic components and systems
- Knowledge of different types of seals for various hydraulic applications.
- Disassembly of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, and valves.
- Set up and operate portable boring, drilling, milling machines, and other related field tools and
equipment.
- Operate primarily at customer’s location to preform repairs and improvements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job requires travel
Must have current drivers license and be able to meet all requirements for a medical card.
Must be self-sufficient
Must be willing to work away from home for extended periods of time.
Must work well with others.
Must be willing to work in all types of weather.

Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to
moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current,
working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat
or extreme cold.
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in:
Crane / heavy equipment repair
Welding
Machining
Pay proportionate to experience.
