Overview
The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coordinator is primarily responsible for facilitating evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention and adolescent reproductive health curricula to youth ages 12 - 19 years old. The coordinator provides educational information and resources to school personnel, parents, caregivers, social service agencies, healthcare providers, and faith based communities in an effort to promote and recruit youth.
In addition, The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, coordination, daily operations and service implementation and delivery of the teen pregnancy prevention, education and support program.
Program is offered in Rowan County. Some travel is required to and from sites, meetings and training. Office hours are Monday - Friday. The position is 40 hour/week with some evening hours required for classes
The following functions represent the majority of duties performed by the position but are not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
- Facilitate evidence - based program models with fidelity to youth ages 12-19 years old in the community
- Comfortable presenting topics such as reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STIs, HIV, and Unhealthy relationship in a trauma-responsive, youth centered, and inclusive way that supports and engages all youth
- Participate in community partnerships that address adolescent pregnancy prevention and reproductive health to bring awareness, promote, and recruit
- Comply with all grant deliverables and required reporting data and documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Recruit and maintain an Advisory Council made up of community members responsible for advising and assisting program staff to provide high quality services
- Create and maintain a Youth Leadership Council
- Define and maintain cooperative ties with other community institutions in order to meet the needs of the program and the participants
- Complete 20 hours of professional development annually aimed at improving program outcomes
Experience
- A background in social work, psychology, public health, education or related human services field.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with youth ages 12-19 required
- Experience with facilitating a pregnancy prevention and/or a sexual health curriculum is a plus
- Strong skills in data collection and analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate diverse groups effectively.
