Families in Transition is currently looking for a Shelter Support Supervisor to join our team!
The Shelter Support Supervisor provides leadership to Shelter Support Staff and support for participants to ensure we are providing a safe, clean and non-threatening environment to persons experiencing homelessness. This position ensures effective daily operations of the Adult Shelter; sets operating processes and provides guidance on safety, security, rule violations, communications with participants, housekeeping, and maintenance. This role partners with the Program Manager and agency leadership to continuously assess offerings, operations, and identify improvements and enhancements to support our mission in serving the most vulnerable population.
Essential Functions:
- Provide direction, coaching and training to staff on supervising participant activities and responses to all questions and concerns.
- Assist with ensuring staff and participants understand program requirements, rules, and regulations. Assure compliance of these regulations.
- Provide guidance on bed assignments and other daily routines as necessary to support efficient daily operations.
- Perform and provide direction on housekeeping and other maintenance tasks as needed, i.e. plunge toilet, etc. Maintain staff area cleanliness, etc.
- Address behavioral issues that create disharmony, criminal, or otherwise.
- Partner with the Program Manager and Director of Shelter Operations to lead efforts around policy and program updates. Assist with implementation of changes that support the Continuous Improvement Process.
- Monitor supply inventory; order supplies and assist with adherence to budget constraints.
- Provide direction on all areas of daily program maintenance in compliance with the organization’s policies.
- Review shift logs; take appropriate action on incident reports and written violations – escalate when necessary.
- Address participants concerns, potential workflow problems and/or any exceptions to policy that can impact program security.
- Responsible for scheduling for staff in order to provide adequate/safe staffing coverage and to accomplish program objectives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards to assure a safe work environment for clients and all staff.
- Attend training sessions required to perform assigned tasks as directed by the Program Manager.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience/Certificates/Licenses):
· Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
· 5 years experience working in an emergency shelter environment.
· Understanding and knowledge of housing safety concerns.
· Demonstrated proficiency in excellent customer service.
· Must be willing to work occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Preferred Requirements:
· College degree in a related field.
