Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across the region, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve victims and new survivors across North Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast area. We drive over 900 victims and children each year between two offices located in Dallas and Houston. We rely on the generous support of the community to continue providing these services at no cost to the victims who call us.

We Need Volunteers Who
- Ages 21
- Have a good driving record
- Can pass a criminal background check
- Have time to drive survivors of domestic violence from a safe pickup place in North Texas to an emergency shelter or to a family home far away.
- DFW Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter, all within the DFW Metroplex. Weekdays only- daytime is most common.
- North Texas Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter 1 to 2 hours from the DFW area. Weekdays- daytime is most common.
- Multi-State Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to another state
- this may take several hours or a few days, depending on the destination. Weekends, weekdays, holidays- whenever you're able!
- You always choose to accept or decline a drive - No pressure! Set a personal goal to help weekly or monthly at your pace.
- We arrange survivor pick-ups in a safe, public place - usually in or near Dallas.
- Many of our survivors travel with children - We prepare car seats so you don't have to.
- There are no out-of-pocket expenses for our volunteers - Families to Freedom provides for the vehicle (or use your own), fuel, food and other travel costs.
