The Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota is dedicated to serving the needs of individuals affected by family violence, including child sexual abuse, adult sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support through a medical-model service center that prioritizes healing and advocacy.

Summary

As the Executive Director at the Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota, you will lead our organization in delivering vital services to victims of family violence. This role is pivotal in shaping our strategic direction and ensuring operational excellence while advocating for those we serve. The Executive Director is the key operational leader of FACNM. The Executive Director is responsible for planning, coordination, direction, and development of the Center. Innovative leadership, sound fiscal management, and dependable human resource management must be demonstrated in order to maintain viable and well-coordinated, quality services, provided in an efficient, fiscally-responsible manner. Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fundraising, grant writing, marketing, and community outreach. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors (“the Board”).

Responsibilities

1) Working with the Board to fulfill the organizational mission. The Executive Director is responsible for:

· Leading in a manner that supports the FACNM’s mission;

· Communicating effectively with the Board;

· managing and overseeing multiple grant budgets; and

· Providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions relating to the FACNM.

2) Financial Performance and Viability: Developing resources sufficient to ensure the financial health and fiscal integrity of the FACNM. The Executive Director is responsible for:

· Creating and submitting a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements;

· Fiscal management, ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintenance;

· Assuring that assigned areas of responsibilities are performed in accordance with grant and/or other funding and performs cost control activities as needed;

· Fundraising, grant writing, and developing resources necessary to support the mission of the FACNM; and

· Adhering to financial limits for contracts and expenditures set forth by the Board.

3) Organization Mission and Strategy: Ensuring that the FACNM mission is fulfilled through operations, programs, strategic planning, and community outreach. The Executive Director is responsible for:

· Implementing the FACNM’s operations and programs that carry out the mission;

· Strategic planning to ensure that the FACNM fulfills its mission into the future; and

· Ensure compliance with standards maintain accreditation by the National Children’s Alliance.

· Enhancing the image of the FACNM by actively and visibly working with the community and other professional, civic, and private organizations to carry out the mission.

4) Organization Operations: Overseeing and implementing appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the FACNM are appropriate consistent with the mission. The Executive Director is responsible for;

· Establishing and administering policies and procedures for day-to-day operations;

· Hiring and retaining competent, qualified staff;

· Supervising and collaborating with FACNM staff; and

· Reviewing and signing all notes, agreements, service contracts, and other instruments made and entered into on behalf of the FACNM as directed by the Board.

5) Multidisciplinary Team: Working with the Multidisciplinary Team (“MDT”) to ensure collaboration regarding FACNM cases. The Executive Director is responsible for:

· Overseeing and managing the schedule for, location of, and facilitation of MDT Case Review Meetings in accordance with National Children’s Alliance standards; and

· Ensuring forensic interviewers and medical providers providing services to the FACNM participate in Peer Review in accordance with National Children’s Alliance standards.

Serving as the primary spokesperson to constituents, the media, and the general public;

Establishing and maintaining relationships with various local, regional, and national organizations and utilizing those relationships to strategically enhance the FACNM’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences or equivalent in a Management, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Counseling or health related field (Masters preferred) or;
  • Three years of experience as an Executive Director of a non-profit or equivalent experience in a management level position in a public or private entity.
  • Knowledge of human resource laws and regulations
  • Experience working in a collaboration with multiple professional disciplines and agencies.
  • A willingness to travel with reliable transportation.
  • Experience in a start-up organization or newly formed non-profit

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of senior management experience;
  • Grant management experience;
  • Budget management experience, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills; planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation;
  • Enthusiasm and ability to engage the public and team members about the work in the Center.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector;
  • Experience in conflict resolution and managing expectations;
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members, volunteers, and potential donors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; Strong public speaking ability and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff;
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to learn quickly.
