What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Teacher's Assistant position at Family and Children's Association?
The Opportunity
The Teacher Assistant will support the program services by assisting the Coordinator in creating and maintaining a safe educational environment for the clients and children.
Responsibilities
- Provide a balance between child-initiated activities and teacher-initiated activities.
- Implement activities that develop self-esteem, and social skills, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and field trips.
- Plan and implement culturally diverse experiences.
- Communicates with children at their developmental level.
- Assesses supplies and materials on an ongoing basis. Helps maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Records daily attendance
- Post information on services and events to the parents.
- Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health related problems, and discuss them with supervisor, parents or guardians.
- Plan summer activities for summer program.
- Work remotely and use technology to teach preschool age children.
- Attend staff meetings
- Assumes other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the operations of the program.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum 2-3 years' experience working with preschool age children in a structured environment.
Must have the ability to engage a diverse population of clients, both children and adults and convey concerns and understanding
Ability to engage and instruct children remotely.
