What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Internship-Families Healing Together position at Family and Children's Association?
Our Families Healing Together Program is seeking a Master's level Social Work intern student. Families Healing Together is a Suffolk County Opioid Settlement funded program that is focused on providing short-term individual and family therapy. The program also provides individuals and families with any assistance they may need for any other essential services. Alongside therapeutic services the program provides trainings on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to community providers and members.
As an intern with Families Healing Together, you will learn how to conduct intake forms and screenings, gain an understanding of therapeutic services, learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences, help provide resources to families in need, and provide monthly group services for families. This opportunity allows the intern to learn about the various opportunities in social work including therapy services, case management, and networking.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and family therapy services in office with collaboration of the program staff.
- Contact referral to review program and interest, provide a screening to ensure eligibility to the program.
- Perform screening including ACEs questionnaire to deem eligibility to the program.
- Assist program staff with ACEs trainings in the community.
- Assist program staff with program outreach and resources.
- Conduct session notes in data system.
- Implement and provide monthly group model for family needs.
- Participate in supervision and any agency trainings and workshops.
Qualifications
- Must be in an accredited MSW program.
- Valid and clean driver's license.
- Interest in working with youth as well as families with substance misuse history.
