What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Consultant (Adult) - LCSW position at Family Care Health Centers?
Are you a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) passionate about providing behavioral health care to underserved adult populations? If so, Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) is looking for an experienced Behavioral Health Consultant to join our team. In this critical role, you will collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to offer same-day behavioral health assessments, interventions, and support for our adult patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Primary Care Providers (PCPs), Behavioral Health Care Managers, Registered Nurses (RNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and Community Health Workers (CHWs) to provide comprehensive, integrated behavioral health care services.
- Deliver same-day behavioral health consultations for adult patients, including assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and brief interventions, as requested by the PCP.
- Present on behavioral health topics to PCPs and other healthcare team members to promote better understanding and integration of behavioral health in primary care.
- Supervise Graduate Social Work students or LMSWs, if applicable.
Clinical Practice Skills:
- Accurately define behavioral health concerns and implement best practice interventions swiftly and effectively.
- Conduct thorough assessments with a deep understanding of DSM-5-TR, family systems, the relationship between physical and mental health, and the impact of trauma on adult patients.
Consultation Skills:
- Tailor behavioral health recommendations to fit the primary care setting, ensuring alignment with the PCP’s approach to behavioral health treatment.
- Provide effective curbside consultations to PCPs on complex cases.
- Utilize expertise in behavioral health medications to support PCPs in managing complex behavioral health conditions, including substance use disorders, with additional collaboration with psychiatry services (internally, MOCPAP).
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work – Required.
- Active Missouri state license (LCSW) – Required.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social work or behavioral health care, preferably in an adult care setting – Preferred.
- Experience or strong desire to work in an urban community health setting – Preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – Required.
