About Us

Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.

FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.

Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).

About the Job

Family Centered Services of Alaska is looking for a qualified individual to fill the Assistant Director of Clinical Services role in our organization. The Assistant Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the mentoring of newly hired clinical staff and assisting with teaching of effective service delivery efficiencies to FCSA clinicians. This position provides clinical supervision to unlicensed and licensed clinicians, as well as supervises case manager(s) at the request of the Clinical Director. This position also carries a client caseload and may require the use of your personal vehicle and vehicle insurance.

Milieu Treatment Responsibilities:

1. With the Clinical Director, responsible for creating and maintaining milieu treatment activities.

2. Provide individual and group therapy to clients.

3. Provide family counseling and/or training.

4. Provide factual or expert witness regarding clients in court.

5. Provide crisis intervention as needed.

6. Participate in special activities, e.g., outdoor recreation, job hunting.

7. Provide support to staff as needed.

8. Provide training and consultation to staff as arranged.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Administrative Responsibilities:

1.Mentor Clinical staff in the areas of:

  • Clinical Documentation
  • Client and family service delivery
  • Efficient client scheduling
  • Problem-solve client and family needs

2. Coordinate with local and state agencies relative to each client’s milieu program.

3. Coordinate with staff relative to each client’s individual service plans.

4. Provide consultation and coordination to OCS personnel and other professionals, and agencies at state and local levels.

5. Attend child study team meetings, placement meetings, and administrative meetings.

6. Responsible for Individual Treatment Plans; including development, implementation, evaluation, and quarterly review; and for writing discharge summaries.

7. Responsible for reviewing Individual Treatment Plans created by the clinical team as determined by best practice, regulation, and accreditation.

8. Responsible to the Clinical Director to maintain compliance with Alaska state regulations and the regulations of the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities.

9. Responsible to complete all paperwork in a timely fashion.

10. Keep current counseling notes.

11. Attend management, administrative, and pre-admission assessment meetings.

12. Provides Minimum 10 hours of documented clinical services to FCSA youth and families.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree from an accredited academic program in mental health counseling or related field AND current State of Alaska Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent.

2. State of Alaska Board Approved Supervisor licensure.

3. Four years post master’s degree experience working with children and adolescents experiencing severe and persistent mental health issues; families; substance abuse and addiction (CDC II preferred); program development and/or treatment plan development and implementation; residential treatment and outpatient settings; and experience delivering behavioral health services to minority populations.

4. Ability to provide clinical supervision to unlicensed and licensed clinical staff.

5. Able to work as a part of a treatment team; knowledge of laws and regulations governing childcare and juvenile justice.

6. Ability to train, evaluate, monitor, and supervise employees; and a student intern (when available).

7. Ability to positively influence others to achieve goals and objectives.

8. Ability to write on technical and non-technical matters clearly and concisely.

9. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

10. Current Alaska driver’s license, driving record, vehicle insurance and seven years driving experience.

11. Potential employees must undergo a fingerprint check, which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions, which, in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely with children.

12. Current First aid and CPR certificate.

This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.

Pay: $83,700.00 - $88,800.00 per year
