Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.
FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.
Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime care to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).
About the Job
The Behavioral Health Aide position is an entry level position in our school program, who is responsible for various direct behavioral health caregiving tasks, assisting during the school day, some administrative tasks, and being a great, positive role model for the clients in the program.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor and assist in implementation of Individualized Service Plans for students under the direction of the supervising Therapist and Program Director.
· Provides onsite support to students during their school day as indicated by the ISP.
· Performs duties of Teacher aide.
· Assists in planning and implementation of recreational, educational, vocational activities, and may accompany students during travel to and from school, work, activities, and appointments.
· Motivates and encourages clients to complete required service milieu treatment activities.
· Develops positive empathic relationship with clients and acts as a personal positive reinforcer and role model.
· Administers Time-Out procedures.
· Provides crisis intervention when needed.
· Assists in records development and maintenance.
· Assists in the development of Individual Education Plan (IEP), under the direction of the Special Education Teacher.
· Maintains daily reporting and charting on clients including Medicaid documentation as well as other treatment related paperwork indicated by the ISP.
· MAY attend staff meetings, Treatment Team meetings, training, conferences and court hearings ONLY if directed to do so.
· Responsible for all necessary paperwork as required by the Policies and Procedures of both FCSA, and the State of Alaska.
· Coordinates with the Special Education Teacher and Therapist to meet the educational and therapeutic needs of the student.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related human service field preferred or equivalent relevant work or volunteer experience.
· Ability to complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
· Physical ability to employ Physical and Verbal de-escalation techniques after being certified.
· Current Alaska driver's license, good driving record, and vehicle insurance.
· Freedom from criminal convictions that may, in the judgment of FCSA management, adversely affect the employee's ability to work safely with children, contingent on a fingerprint and/or records check.
· Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.
