Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.
Smart Start Learning Center is a subsidiary of FCSA and provides daytime childcare to families in our community. Employees of FCSA are eligible to enroll their children in childcare services and enjoy a discount on their monthly tuition (contingent on enrollment availability).
About the Job
Family Centered Services of Alaska is seeking an Unlicensed Therapist to provide and oversee the psychology-based and trauma-informed services to youth and their families across Fairbanks area programs. Programs range from outpatient therapy services, residential treatment, and alternative school-based services.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and assessing personalized treatment plans.
- Conducting individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
- Offering crisis intervention.
- Serving as an expert witness in court when required.
- Engaging in special activities tailored to meet the unique needs of clients.
- The Therapist may be asked to provide training, consultation, and therapy to staff as needed.
This position has and on-call rotation for crisis intervention.
The salary for Unlicensed Therapists is between $75,005.00 - $79,573.00 based on education and experience. Therapists who receive their licensure during employment will have their compensation re-evaluated to reflect their new credentials. This position offers an incentive bonus and provides the opportunity to earn an additional $10,000 per year.
Family Centered Services of Alaska provides supervision for unlicensed therapists who are working towards their clinical licensure. Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Workers are required to have 100 hours of clinical supervision. Supervision can cost up to $200 per hour. Family Centered Services of Alaska provides this supervision at no cost to the employee.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, from an accredited university, in social work, psychology, or counseling, or a closely related field required.
- Prefer two years’ experience in providing direct services to adolescents, program development, ISP development and implementation, and programmatic staff supervision.
- Able to work as a part of a treatment team.
- Physical ability to employ verbal and physical aggression control techniques after being certified.
- Knowledge of Alaskan childcare laws and juvenile justice laws.
- Current Alaska driver’s license, driving record and vehicle insurance.
- Potential employees must undergo a fingerprint check which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions which, in the judgment of FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely with children.
- Current First aid and CPR certificate.
- Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.
- All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.
