What is the RISE Program?
The RISE (resilience, independence, support, engagement) program will provide mental health skill-based services to give at-risk youth in Winona an opportunity to learn, grow, socialize and participate in opportunities to enrich their lives and discourage them from unhealthy and unlawful activities. The program will also provide parents/caregivers the opportunity to learn skills to provide a safe, supportive and connected relationship with the youth in their care. The RISE Program is funded by the Community Crime Intervention and Prevention Grant from the Office of Justice Programs.
Goals Of The RISE Program
BASIC PURPOSE: Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Mental Health Practitioner is responsible for delivering mental health interventions to youth involved in the RISE program. The Mental Health Practitioner assists the clients in moving forward with treatment and accomplishing their treatment goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT:
Education, Training & Work Experience: Required high school diploma or the equivalent; or (2) years of experience as a primary caregiver to a child with mental illness within the previous ten years. Preferred: holds a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university.
Scope of practice: While under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional, a mental health behavioral aide may practice psychosocial skills with a child client according to the child's treatment plan and individual behavior plan that a mental health professional, clinical trainee, or mental health practitioner has previously taught to the child
Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge in mental health interventions and skills training. Candidate must possess knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and be able work with youth using this skill set. Candidate must have the ability to build appropriate rapport with clientele and form age appropriate limits and boundaries.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Normal classroom environment with related indoor and outdoor conditions. Requires use of nonviolent crisis intervention methods.

- Provide mental health interventions for clients as directed by the Program Supervisor.
- Review treatment paperwork/assessments and ensure skills are being taught accordingly.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed according to policies and procedures and current governing standards.
- Participate as a member of the RISE team including, but not limited to, assisting in the coordination of the daily program operations, attending weekly staff meetings and maintaining relationships and communication to assure appropriate care for clients.
- Provide family and/or individual skills training as directed by the Program Supervisor and document sessions according to governing standards.
