Job Summary
RESIDENT ASSISTANT Location: Family Crisis Center (FCC) Position Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt Reports to: Program Director Direct Reports: no DESCRIPTION: Effectively assists the Program Director in managing the needs of shelter residents, helping to ensure a superior quality of service is provided to residents. JOB FUNCTIONS: Resident Services Supports new residents through the intake process to include the completion of intake forms, communicating shelter rules, policies and procedures. Provide room assignments to residents and help make them comfortable. Check for any physical needs and supply toiletries, clothing, personal care items and bed/bath linens as needed. Assists residents who are leaving the shelter with exit procedures and paperwork. Prepares rooms for new residents and sorts items for return. Distributes medications according to policy guidelines and accurately documents the activity. Responsible for demonstrating life skills and providing positive emotional support. Monitors shelter for cleanliness and safety. Follows and documents scheduled fire, intruder and weather drills. Client Services Answers 24-hour crisis line as assigned and accurately documents all information into database. Provides crisis intervention to all callers to include individualized safety planning, emotional support, validation of the victim’s experience and feelings, and any information or referrals needed. Administrative Reads staff communication log at the beginning of each shift. Documents all relevant information in the staff communication log at the end of each shift. Maintains the sign in/sign out log while on duty. Attends all staff meetings and completes all annual training requirements. Wears professional attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines. Knows and follows FCC policies and procedures. Assist in fundraising activities. Works assigned schedule to include rotation during nights, weekends and holidays. Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent Microsoft Office suite proficiency Working knowledge of Domestic Violence Must have a valid driver’s license. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work efficiently with a diverse group of individuals. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT: Appropriate and effective interaction with staff, management, volunteers and the public Accomplishment of job functions in an effective and timely manner. Demonstration of increasing level of job knowledge and proficiency. Exercise sound judgement in the absence of specific guidelines. Accuracy and timeless in completing assigned projects and paperwork. Adherence to and enforcement of FCC policies and procedures.
