Position SummaryThe Development Director is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission by managing all aspects of the donor cycle: identifying, qualifying (or disqualifying), cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. This position is accountable for achieving specific key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets associated with these responsibilities, ensuring measurable success in revenue generation and donor engagement.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities Donor Cycle Management and Solicitation- Identify: Proactively research and identify potential donors, aligning prospects with organizational priorities and fundraising goals. Represent the organization by giving presentations to civic clubs, church groups, and other community organizations to attract potential supporters.
- Qualify/Disqualify: Assess donor capacity and interest, focusing efforts on high-value prospects while strategically disengaging where appropriate.
- Cultivate: Build strong relationships with potential and current donors through personalized outreach and moves management, engagement, and events.
- Solicit: Actively and confidently ask for financial contributions by presenting compelling cases for support that align donor interests with organizational needs, ensuring annual fundraising goals are achieved or exceeded.
- Steward: Express gratitude promptly, maintain regular communication, and provide clear reports on the impact of contributions to deepen donor relationships. Collaborate with the Director of Marketing on donor communications as needed to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the Corporate Partnership Program. Schedule and execute corporate asks to meet budgeted goals while ensuring smooth program operations for all company partners.
- Engage churches in FCC’s mission. Build and strengthen relationships with church leaders, increase awareness of FCC services, and secure financial support to meet budgeted goals.
- Lead the end-of-the-year (face to face) campaign with FCC donors.
- Lead the annual gifts of grain campaign to bring in additional support for FCC’s operational fund.
- Lead the annual county Board of Supervisor asks.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing, Grant Administrator, and Executive Director to ensure the annual fund revenue needs are met, aligning efforts across departments to achieve financial targets.
- Promote planned giving opportunities, including IRA gifts, bequests, and other legacy contributions, ensuring donors understand the benefits and impact of their support.
- Develop and execute strategies to establish and grow the organization’s endowment fund, ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to facilitate planned giving conversations with donors.
- Implement retention strategies to strengthen relationships with current donors and increase donor lifetime value.
- Develop targeted campaigns and initiatives to reconnect with lapsed donors, inspiring renewed commitment to the organization’s mission.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing to craft donor-centric campaigns and outreach efforts that drive engagement and giving.
- Work with the Grant Administrator to align donor cultivation with grant funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to integrate development efforts with strategic organizational goals and financial objectives.
- Supervise the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Serve as a member of the FCC leadership team. Help shape and implement the strategic planning of the agency, collaborate with other members of the leadership team for the betterment of FCC’s culture and overall agency health, and serve as a positive, servant leader for all FCC employees.
- Execute the development plan each year with precision, ensuring all key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and revenue goals are achieved or exceeded.
- Organize and lead donor recognition events in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Marketing & Events Specialist.
- Determine other activities to highlight the impact of donor contributions.
1) Adhere to all Family Crisis Centers’ policies and procedures
2) Other duties as assigned
3) Travel throughout Family Crisis Centers’ service area
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. B.A. in communications, public relations or a related field of study or 2 years or more of experience in sales or development work
2. Able to multi-task and willing to work flexible hours
3. Flexibility to accommodate changing needs of the agency
4. Ability to work well in a team atmosphere and work cohesively with staff, volunteers, donors and board members
5. Possess good verbal and written communication skills
6. Self-directed, flexible, diplomatic and able to initiate and see projects through completion
7. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance
8. Ability to pass law enforcement screening and background checks.
