The primary responsibility of a Gun Department Specialist for Family Farm and Home is to develop a fully compliant gun department while delivering an outstanding shopping experience for each customer. The Gun Department Specialist will be ultimately responsible for correct inventory levels, as well as proper accounting in the acquisition and disposition of each firearm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, Include but are not limited to:
A successful Gun Department Specialist will be knowledgeable of all federal ATF requirements and be able to teach those requirements to other team members. They will need to have good oral/written communication skills in regards to customers, team members, management staff and all support personnel. The Gun Department Specialist will need to be very detailed oriented with an extensive follow-up skill set. They will have good organizational skills and will be able to work with limited supervision. A successful Gun Department Specialist will train and adhere to all safety practices with all team members. They must be able stand for extended lengths of time. They are required to be able to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures. They must be able to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs. They will need to be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays. In addition, the Gun Department Specialist will be required to pass a background screening. Minimum Age of 21.

- Promote an aggressive sale culture with intense focus on superior customer service.
- Maintain professionalism and positive store morale
- Responsible for completion and follow up on all operational requirements for the gun department in regards to all ATF requirements and federal laws
- Verify all firearms and ammunition is properly received, stored and merchandised.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and reviewing company provided information from vendor and support team
- Maintain proper documentation of federal forms.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising and cleanliness in the gun department
- Willingness to be adaptable and open to change
- Maintain a working knowledge of safety requirements for firearms
- All other duties as assigned by store management or company official
