Freshpack is seeking its first Project Manager to lead and organize our product development projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape project management processes at Freshpack, providing structure to a fast-growing, hands-on environment.

About Freshpack : Freshpack is an industry leader in custom cheese packaging, with products available nationwide in major retailers. Over the past 25 years, our team has expanded from 15 to 260 employees, and we're positioned for substantial growth in the next 3-5 years. Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Product Development Project Oversight :

Manage a portfolio of 40-60 active product development projects, ranging from fast-paced to long-term initiatives.

  • Develop and implement project management processes to guide project planning, execution, and completion.
  • Collaborate directly with production teams on the plant floor and participate in the day-to-day execution of project tasks.
  • Project Planning and Scoping :
  • Create comprehensive scoping documents, defining objectives, timelines, and deliverables for each project.

  • Develop and manage project schedules, including Gantt charts as needed.
  • Establish processes and structure to ensure effective project documentation and consistent project tracking.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Coordination :
  • Act as the primary liaison among multiple departments, facilitating cross-functional alignment and driving projects forward.

  • Coordinate with various teams—including Maintenance, Product Development, Shipping & Receiving, Operations, Quality Control, Sales, Procurement, Scheduling, and occasionally directly with customers—to ensure clear communication and alignment on goals and expectations.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate updates regularly, fostering positive relationships across departments.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Reporting :
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders on project progress, risks, and timeline changes, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote successful project completions.
  • Highlight project significance to stakeholders, emphasizing the impact on business goals and fostering engagement.
  • Process Creation and Continuous Improvement :
  • Develop processes not only for successful project completion but also to build the foundation for this new project management role.

  • Establish frameworks for tracking performance metrics, standardizing documentation, and creating a repeatable structure for future project management efforts.
  • Requirements :

    Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Project management experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to create and implement project management systems, processes, and structures in a newly established role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, set and manage timelines, and maintain organized, up-to-date project documentation.
  • Experience with tools like Monday.com, Asana, or Microsoft Project for effective project tracking.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projects in a manufacturing, food, or similar industry.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
