Position Title: Resource Specialist Library
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA preferred. High School Diploma or a GED may be substituted with a minimum of 120 hours of childcare and administrative training.
Training Required: Childcare training, basic administrative training, AELG training, certifications in APT classes (such as Ready to Learn), and Train the Trainer classes. Also, must be certified in Follet library software and will have excellent verbal, written, and computer skills. Must be knowledgeable of all areas required by the Minimum Standards and the Alabama Pathways to Quality Care and Education Core Knowledge Areas (CKA).
Experience Required: Minimum of one year experience in an early childhood classroom. Experience in customer service with a library setting is highly desirable. Must be familiar with ECE books, magazines, journals, music CDs, and training DVDs and have experience ordering these materials. Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, computer and organization skills.
Job Summary
Works under the direct supervision of the Education and Training Program Director. Oversees day to day operation of the resource library and assists with training as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee daily activity in resource room: appointments, laminating/ die cut services, assisting and advising patrons on material selection, reshelving resources

Inventory new material (bar code and enter into computer system)

Stay current on new materials needed and order when approved

Maintain and update displays in resource room

Compile and submit the monthly library report

Assist with training as applicable
Pre/In-service Training
Pre/In-service training will include overview and training on agency policies and procedures. Additional training in management and quality early care and education will be provided through research materials, meetings, classes, and conferences.
