The Certified Medical Assistant – Family Health Center (FHC) functions as a vital member of the healthcare team who contributes to the success by demonstrating patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, self-development, and teamwork. This individual demonstrates excellent clinical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and makes decisions consistent with the organization’s policies, department protocols and guidelines to achieve high-quality, inclusive, equitable, culturally and linguistically appropriate care in a cost-effective, patient centered manner.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification, and successful completed documentation of the following courses (or their equivalent):
- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease
- Pharmacology
Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin, or Phlebotomy Technician in addition to the minimum required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant AND completion of the three core classes within Twelve months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Experience in primary care in outpatient setting. Bilingual English/Spanish.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification awarded by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
