Job Description
The Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team providing treatment, support and follow-up to patients with substance use disorders. The individual must follow departmental and organizational policies and procedures regarding documentation, billing and ethical conduct while serving our patients.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required : Associate’s degree or higher in a field of behavioral science and 360 hours of substance use disorders specific training from Department of Safety and Professional Services approved program.
Preferred / Optional : Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, human services or other related areas of study, with 360 hours of specific substance use disorder training.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required : 5000 hours of clinical experience in providing the 8 practice dimensions as a substance abuse counselor.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required : Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) awarded by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred / Optional : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
