What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Assistant position at Family Health Center?
Position Summary
The Resident Assistant directs residential care of adult and geriatric clients who are mentally ill, chemically dependent, dually diagnosed or mentally ill with mental retardation/developmental disabilities.
Essential Functions

Educates, trains and supervises residents in activities of daily living.

Supervises residents in the self-administration of medications.

Responsible for the cleanliness and efficient operation of the residential sites.

Responsible for the supervision/implementation of daily menus.

Perform daily assessments of residents functioning and alert appropriate staff to any problems encountered.

Provide model for and become resource person to all residents.

All other duties assigned or requested.
Work Experience
Experience in a residential setting is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Mental: Good judgement, good verbal and written communication skills are required. Will be expected to interact with other professionals including physicians, therapists, nurses, administrators, etc.
Physical: Completion of physical examination by Family Health Center medical staff with a recommendation of readiness for employment.
Skills & Abilities: Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive a 12-passenger van. Must be able to learn basic First Aid and CPR through training that will be provided. Prefer applicant be age 24, or older, with seven years of driving experience. Computer skills in various applications utilized by Family Health Center.
Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lit, heated and ventilated group home/office. Occasionally drives a passenger van in all types of weather conditions.
