SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric NP/PA will diagnose, triage, and provide and monitor medications for an ethnically diverse patient population with medical and behavioral health problems. This position will provide brief intervention strategies and treatment plans for patients’ psychotropic medication management and works with both children and adults. In addition, the Psychiatric NP/PA will collaborate and consult with medical providers, mental health staff, and other collaborative partners to ensure effective treatment for patients with co-occurring behavioral health and medical disorders, and for patients with primary behavioral health disorders.
Starting pay of $110,000 - $130,000 DOE.
$10,000 sign on bonus paid out over the first 90 days.
Quarterly bonus and production bonus are also available.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess an unrestricted NP or PA license for practice in the state of Idaho.
Three years of work experience and specialized training in the field of behavioral health.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicines and treatment for mental health conditions.
· Accurate understanding psychiatric diagnosis and their medial and behavioral management.
· Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions and develop appropriate management and treatment plans.
· Ability to exercise balanced judgement in evaluating situations, making decisions, and responding to difficult or confrontational situations.
· Organized, creative, flexible, open minded, and able to multi-task
· Ability to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers, behavioral health staff, and administrative and support staff.
· Clearance through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Criminal History back ground check.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office, email, EMR software and the internet.
· Eligible for FTCA insurance coverage.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Assess the mental health status of patients presenting with behavioral conditions.
2. Prescribe and monitor effectiveness and side-effects of psychotropic medications.
3. Assist in primary health care providers in recognizing and treating behavioral health disorders and psychosocial problems
4. Collaborate with primary care medical providers and mental health staff in the design and
Delivery of patient care.
5. See patients during scheduled visits for new and established patients and respond to critical situations that occur within the clinic when clinicians see opportunities for acute behavioral intervention in a patient seeking medical care.
6. Assist patients, and family as appropriate, to interpret and manage maladaptive behaviors and to plan healthy lifestyle changes. Work with patients to improve adherence to medical recommendations and medication compliance.
7. Conduct ins-service trainings on common behavioral health issues for medical practitioners and behavioral health providers.
8. Complete required statistical and billing documentation for billing, grant reporting, and quality improvement purposes.
9. Exercise balanced judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a professional manner.
10. Maintain charting, treatment plans, and documentation related to services delivered.
11. Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and the development of treatment plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
12. Respond to requests for psychiatric consults made by medical practitioners within Family Health Services’ clinics.
13. Remain current with standards of care and medications specific to the behavioral health care setting.
14. Act as a liaison with community mental health agencies and consulting psychiatric services. Triage and refer patients to services as appropriate and follow up on those referrals.
15. Performs other job duties as assigned.
