Family Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Care Center located in Sandusky and Norwalk, Ohio, serving the Erie and Huron County area. We are currently looking for an Associate Medical Director. This position is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality clinical services delivered by the staff of Family Health Services (FHS). The Medical Director has chosen to delegate specific responsibilities of the Medical Director position, aside from physician peer review and discipline, to the Associate Medical Director. This position will assume responsibility for the delivery, coordination, and supervision of medical services provided at FHS.

Essential Functions

  • Routinely meets with Medical Director to review clinical operations.
  • Provides information for inclusion in written performance evaluations for all direct report staff and submits written performance evaluations in accordance with policy requirements.
  • Identifies the need for staff education and assists in the development of in-service programs for clinical staff members.
  • Establishes and maintains clinical supervisory systems which allow staff growth and broaden the scope / efficacy of clinical services provided by staff.
  • Provides leadership and counsel to clinical personnel to enhance staff development.
  • Supervises the maintenance of medical records assuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with licensing regulations and legal and ethical standards.
  • Supervises outgoing referral program.
  • Serves as a Lead of the Risk Management Committee and serves on other committees as assigned.
  • Participates in the development and oversight of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Oversees development and implementation of all requirements for Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certification and Chronic Care Management (CCM).
  • Monitors FTCA application and compliance.
  • Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocols and standards, ensuring that all federal and State policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met.
  • Collaborates with the other clinical directors in the delivery of quality patient care, maintenance of clinical documentation, and handling of complaints and / or medical emergencies.
  • Responsible for tracking all quality measures in accordance with guidelines governing a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) including Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) PCMH.
  • Acts as FHS HIPAA Privacy Officer to assure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and trainings.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and / or infection control standards.
  • Represents the organization at various community and / or business meetings, committees, and task forces, promoting existing and new programs and / or policies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to interact with staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current medical principles and models.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

Direct supervision of clinical nursing staff, ancillary staff, and quality staff.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must hold a diploma from an accredited School of Advanced Practice Nursing.
  • Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Ohio.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical / direct patient care experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of quality experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of management experience.
