Job Title: Dental Assistant
Reports To: Dentist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Perform a variety of technical duties to assist dentist in the examination and treatment of patients; perform related duties involved in the care and maintenance of dental instruments, equipment and supplies. Greet patients and process dental records as required, requisition supplies and equipment. Perform routine maintenance on instruments and equipment. Assist in the training of new employees.
Compensation: $20.40 T0 $21.84 per hour depending on experience and with certification $21.43 to $21.84.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Benefits: 401K available on the 1st day of hire for Full and Part time employees, Family Healthcare will match dollar for dollar up to 3% and .50 cents on the dollar for the next 2% up to 5% of yearly earnings.
Profit Sharing: Full and Part time employees are eligible for up to 5% of yearly earnings after working with Family Healthcare for 6 months consecutively.
Employee Assistance Program:

Required Vaccines and Tests, Influenza, Tdap, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Negative TB and Drug Test results.
Additional Vaccines may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.
Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient.
Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.
Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.
Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by Dentist.
Records treatment information in patient records.
Cleans teeth and applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth as appropriate.
Travel to other clinic locations as required for business needs or meetings.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Required
One or more years of experience preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred
Ability to work well as a team, exhibit integrity, use good judgment and keep confidential information

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Work requires the ability to assist a dentist in examining and treating patients generally acquired through a high school education and one year of experience OR completion of an approved dental assistant course.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
