Openings: Full-time and PRN in the Austin area. Shift: 7pm - 3am
Qualifications:
Education: Advanced Emergency Medical Responder
Licenses/Certification: Paramedic License & current ACLS and BLS certification
Experience: 2- year Paramedic experience required. Hospital experience preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
• Performs specialized work initiating emergent or appropriate care under the supervision of the ED Physician, assisting both emergency department patients and outpatients to establish and maintain an effective patient flow in the Emergency Department.
• Assessing patients, providing emergency treatment.
• Paramedic assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence, and skill.
• Assist in patient care, obtains and documents vital signs, provides patient hygiene, maintains clear and respectful communications with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Collects specimens and processes laboratory samples in accordance with lab competencies.
• Takes Vital signs and records. Measures and records patients input and output. Attaches oxygen, oxygen saturation and cardiac monitor as requested/needed.
• Initiates lifesaving measures as needed, i.e., opening an airway, ventilation using bag valve mask, hemorrhage control, chest compressions, stabilization of fracture, cervical spine alignment, etc.
• Clean and dress wounds. Set up and assist with procedures as directed.
• Phlebotomy skills, performing basic laboratory procedures, wound cultures, Point of Care testing, EKG skills and application of splints. Insert and discontinue IV catheters in adults & pediatric population and document as required.
• Perform other job-related duties within the scope of practice.
• Available to take call as needed.
