Family Hospital Management Company is seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at a Williamson County Jail. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health of individuals in the criminal justice system while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
As a Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to the incarcerated population, conducting assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing and implementing treatment plans. You will work closely with medical and correctional staff to ensure the well-being and treatment of patients within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic interviews for inmates.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans for inmates with mental health disorders.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with established guidelines and best practices
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychologists, social workers, and medical staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Document patient interactions and treatment plans accurately in the medical records.
- Participate in case reviews, treatment team meetings, and consultations with facility leadership.
- Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric support during emergencies.
- Stay current with developments in psychiatric practice, relevant laws, and policies.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
- Valid state medical license and ability to practice in Texas.
- Experience in correctional or forensic psychiatry is preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding of psychiatric disorders, treatment options, and psychotropic medications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse and often challenging environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in high-stress situations and demonstrate empathy for patients.
- Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with legal standards.
