WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a fast-paced, artificially lighted, open-office designed environment, involving contact with providers and patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares patients for the encounter with the provider according to reason for visit, scheduled appointment time, standing orders, and provider preferences.
1. Assist patients as needed to always maintain their comfort and safety.
2. Assists providers as needed during scheduled workday or makes arrangements for coverage if off the floor.
3. Serves as communication liaison for the Provider as directed for follow up of tests, procedures, and patient messaging.
4. Appropriately documents in the patient’s medical record.
5. Maintains compliance with HIPPA standards regarding confidentiality and security of patient records and communications.
6. Communicates with Clinical Nurse Manager in a timely fashion regarding all clinical concerns and needs to ensure effective management of clinical workflow.
7. Assures adequate levels of medical supplies and equipment for exam rooms.
8. Participates in review of clinical functions that hinder smooth and efficient patient care, offering effective solutions and demonstrating spirit of teamwork with co-workers.
9. Participates in review of office functions to improve the quality of service and safety for patients.
10. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Clinical Nurse Manager and/or assigned Provider.
11. Attends Continuing Education as approved or requested by the Clinical Nurse Manager and shares information from these sessions with co-workers as appropriate.
12. Maintains a professional working relationship with co-workers, patients, and all visitors to our client’s medical practice.
13. Utilizes the computer according to our client’s office policies and procedures
14. Adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards of practice of our client’s medical practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Graduation from an accredited MA program (or equivalent work experience).
· Completion of Certification or Registration Program for MAs preferred.
· Two years of experience as MA in a private medical office including experience with electronic health records (EHR systems).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
· Proficient customer service skills.
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through medical assistant programming.
· Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.
· Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
· Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting. Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
· Ability to document and communicate pertinent information.
· Knowledge of medical terminology.
