Duties
- Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and other relevant coding systems.
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulations.
- Process medical billing claims in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or coding.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in medical coding regulations and billing practices.
- Assist in the management of medical records to ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide support for audits related to billing and coding practices.
- Utilize various systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience in medical billing processes within a medical office setting is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to billing and coding.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
