What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contract UI/UX Designer – Website Redesign position at Family Motor Coach Association?
The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a talented UI/UX Designer (contractor) to lead a full redesign of our website. You’ll help us transform our site into an intuitive, visually appealing, and engaging experience that better serves our RV community, encourages new member sign-ups, and increases engagement across all age groups, especially those aged 50–80 who make up the majority of our audience.
Responsibilities:
- Audit the current website and identify usability issues, outdated design elements, and content clutter
- Design and prototype modern, user-friendly layouts that improve navigation and accessibility for our RV-centric audience
- Simplify site structure and content flow to enhance readability and mobile responsiveness
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (marketing, IT, member services) to ensure design aligns with FRVA’s brand and goals
- Conduct user research or surveys to validate design direction with real members (optional but a plus)
- Prepare and deliver mockups, design assets, and style guides to the development team
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience designing clean, intuitive websites — ideally for nonprofits, associations, or lifestyle/interest-based communities
- Strong portfolio showcasing website UI/UX design
- Proficiency in tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG), mobile-first design, and usability standards
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet project milestones
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with CMS platforms like Joomla or WordPress
- Experience designing for older user demographics (50 )
- Previous work with membership-based or RV/travel-related organizations
Contract Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Project Duration: Estimated 6–8 weeks (flexible depending on scope)
- Location: Remote/Hybrid, but must be local to the Cincinnati, OH area for occasional onsite meetings
- Compensation: Competitive and based on experience
