**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide part time habilitative assistance and care to clients in various Agency programs. The DSP will be responsible for direct daily care, teaching, and supervising clients, as well as maintaining accurate record-keeping.
**Responsibilities:**
- Directly supervise clients, ensuring knowledge of their status and location at all times.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of individualized plans for clients.
- Teach, supervise, and assist clients in adult daily living activities.
- Monitor client progress on goals and protect client rights.
- Complete incident reports and medication error reports.
- Implement behavioral plans and therapy recommendations.
- Develop and implement recreation and community participation activities.
- Work collaboratively with Clinical Director, Consultants, families, and other agencies.
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and required trainings.
- Administer medications, provide routine healthcare, and first aid.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program sites and equipment.
- Transport clients to designated activities and programs.
- Conduct and participate in emergency drills.
- Manage petty cash and client cash on hand accounts.
**Qualifications:**
- Successful completion of Medication Certification Program.
- Successful completion of PMT, CPR, and First Aid training.
- Valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
**Education and Experience:**
High School Diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavioral challenges is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Physical Demands:**
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Vision abilities such as close vision and adjusting focus required.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- May be required to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force during physical restraint procedures.
**Language Skills:**
Ability to read, write, and interpret English documents and correspondence.
**Mathematical Skills:**
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
**Reasoning Ability:**
Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems effectively.
**Work Environment:**
This role involves moderate noise levels and exposure to changing weather conditions during travel by automobile.
