The Head Cashier is responsible for overseeing the cashier team at Fisher's Ace Hardware, managing daily checkout operations, ensuring accurate transactions, training new and current cashiers, resolving customer issues at the register, and maintaining a positive work environment by monitoring cash handling and addressing customer service concerns while serving as the primary point of contact for the checkout area; essentially leading and supervising the cashier staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilies
The following is a list of job duties for the Head Cashier position. They include but are not limited to:
Customer Service
1. Project a positive representation of Fisher's Ace Hardware.
2. Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
3. Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor.
4. Resolve any customer issues.
5. Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
6. Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly.
7. Continually build product knowledge with you and all cashiers to better assist with customer needs.
8. Communicate any problems or issues with the management team.
Register Operations
1. Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
2. Continually build register knowledge with all cashiers.
3. Monitor and assign training courses to improve development.
Front End Appearance
1. Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times.
2. Assist with keeping the impulse counters stocked and faced. Rotate fresh merchandise as seasons change.
3. Ensure current ads are stocked and shopping carts are available for customers.
4. Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
5. Inform associates when merchandise returns need to be put away.
6. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
1. High School or GED Equivalent
Experience
1. Proven experience of more than 3 years experience in cash handling and customer service
2. Exceptional skills to manage high-pressure situations and assume high responsibility.
3. Ability to effectively prioritize work and organization skills.
4. Strong leadership skills to hire, train and lead new Cashier.
Physical Demands
1. Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25 pounds), and climbing.
