Job Summary
The Family Pet Hospital is seeking a dedicated full-time Veterinary Aide to join our animal-loving team. The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to work any shift during the days/hours of M-F 8:00a to 6:15p as needed.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with all breeds of cats and dogs and has strong teamwork ethics. This is an entry-level position, designed for individuals with a personal commitment to advancing their careers as veterinary assistants, with the potential goal of becoming a certified veterinary technician. Our training program is tailored for self-motivated individuals eager to progress quickly and invest in their personal development.
Compensation:
- Starting wage: $12.36 - $14.00 per hour
- Wage increase opportunities available bi-weekly based on performance and training progress
- Potential to advance to roles with greater responsibilities
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Customer Service Managers, Veterinary Assistants, Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinarians
- Greet patients and their owners upon arrival and escort them to examination rooms
- Record pets' weight and vital signs upon arrival
- Provide patient restraint during procedures and examinations
- Assist during radiology procedures
- Clean and maintain surgical rooms in preparation for procedures
- Prepare instruments and medications as directed by veterinary personnel
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Adhere to hospital safety and wellness regulations
- Educate clients about our services and treatments
- Assist with customer service needs, including phone inquiries
- Enter patient history into computer data software
- Prepare vaccinations and medications
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 years of experience working with animals preferred
- Comfort around cats and dogs required
- Experience with animal restraint is a plus
- Ability to take direction and correction graciously
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in software data entry
- Strong customer service skills
