What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Family Physicians of St. Joseph?
As a Medical Assistant/Office Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting in the care of our patients under the supervision of the four physicians in our Direct Primary Care office. You will support the physicians through a variety of tasks related to patient care; including triage, rooming of patients, patient communication and basic office procedures. Our office is well known for providing exceptional patient centered primary care, and we accomplish this through strong teamwork, compassion for our patients and timely communication. We are looking for someone new to be part of this outstanding team!
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Obtain accurate patient vital signs
- Update the patient medical record
- Arrange patient referrals, as well as schedule radiology and laboratory services
- Triage patient calls
- Assist during medical examinations
- Administer injections or other medications as directed by the physician
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Perform basic office procedures related to patient care, such as EKGs or point of care testing
Skills
- Experience as a medical assistant or office nurse
- Basic knowledge of patient care procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
