What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chair of the Board of Directors position at Family Promise of Greater Denver?
The primary responsibility of the board chair is to lead the board by engaging individual board members to work together. The chair is responsible for facilitating board meetings, showing strong leadership, handling any grievances, supporting and supervising the chief executive, while following best-governing practices.
The chair is responsible for leading an engaging and effective meeting which includes all board members' voices. This includes annual strategic planning sessions.
The chair is responsible for making sure agreed tasks are carried out, and making decisions between meetings if necessary. Before meetings the chair should plan and understand the agenda and ensure all necessary information is available.
The board chair is responsible for leading the board and serving as the direct supervisor of the Executive Director of the FPGD organization, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations. The board chair is responsible for hiring, evaluating and compensation of the Executive Director.
This position includes fundraising support and community involvement. Creating new donor relationships and supporting fundraising efforts. Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and donors.
