Position Title: Abuse in Later Life Advocate Job Status: Full-time

Accountable To: Lead Sexual Assault Advocate

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
1. Accompanies victims to court proceedings providing emotional support, information and advocacy. Educates victims about the court process and their rights.
2. Assists victims with completing and filing paperwork, including protection orders or personal safety orders.
3. Assists in completing and filing for Crime Victims Compensation.
4. Assists domestic violence victims by encouraging documentation of abuse, prosecution, and promoting safety planning.
5. Provides information and education to court personnel and other agencies about FRC services and other community services.
6. Works as a liaison between the police, criminal prosecutors, courts, and victims.
7. Provides a full range of case management services to non-sheltered victims, including crisis counseling, support groups, and referrals to community organizations.
8. Is knowledgeable of the court system, laws, procedures, and personnel to ensure effectiveness of advocacy.
9. Assists in handling crisis calls and serves as staff backup in the on-call rotation with other staff members.
10. Network with other agencies to serve clients comprehensively.
11. Collect and enter statistical data into the database in a timely manner. Use the data to complete monthly and annual reporting as outlined in the grant documents.
12. Assist in managing the agency database and providing the necessary reports for funders.
13. Keeps informed and knowledgeable about FRC’s programs, attends training opportunities, meetings, and professional organizations, etc.
14. Serves as an effective representative for FRC and its programs.
15. Attend scheduled meetings.
16. Complete 8 hours of pre-approved training.
17. Participate in Elder Abuse Committee.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- College degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and huma relation skills, group dynamics, knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to manage time, work independently and handle several projects at once.
- Proven excellent communication skills (oral and written), organizational skills, record keeping skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Discretion and confidentiality required.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
