The NYSTART program works collaboratively with the system of support to improve the lives of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-existing behavioral health needs/mental health concerns. This involves increasing the community's capacity to provide an integrated response as well as utilizing local, person-centered, positive, multidisciplinary, cost-effective, and evidence-informed practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the highest quality of care and support to all guests while maintaining effective, positive, and quality operations at the Resource Center.
- Assist guests in achieving personal goals, work on behalf of guests to overcome barriers, respect guests' personal beliefs, choices, and interests, and promote community inclusion and acceptance.
- Provide appropriate assistance to promote health and wellness, communicate with medical professionals, and record information regarding health events, conditions, and status.
- Utilize approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to protect guests.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and professional manner.
The ideal candidate will have an expressed interest or experience in Psychology, Social Work, or other Human Service-related fields. A valid driver's license with no more than 8 points and excellent reading and writing skills are also required.
