Qualifications:

  • Education Required: Open.
  • Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience Required: Any relevant experience in a related field.
  • Experience Preferred: Equivalent combination of education and experience, paid or volunteer human service experience (with children, domestic violence, and sexual assault victims).
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required.  Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.

 

Position Specifics

  • Position Hours: 2nd shift, primarily Friday through Sunday 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
  • Part-time, hourly position at $27.05/Hour.
  • Location: Scott County, IA

 

Position Details

The Advocate of Shelter & Housing will provide comprehensive trauma-informed and survivor-centered services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other violent crimes. This position will provide case management, housing advocacy, immediate shelter and related supportive services, and emotional support to all shelter residents. This position will also provide follow-up services with residents who have transitioned out of Shelter. In addition, this position will provide emotional support and crisis intervention to callers on the 24-hour crisis line. This position must have reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. This position will participate in the 12-hour on-call shelter backup rotation. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor of Shelter & Housing. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.
