We are expanding and in need of a second Peer Advocate for our Enhanced Women’s and Parent Focused Specialty Substance Use Treatment Program! Enjoy working with women who are pregnant, moms and dads who need extra support to maintain or achieve recovery from substances or alcohol? Want to work in an office but also out in the community with clients?

Flexible schedule yet full-time position with benefits! We are hiring a individual who:

  • Is a parent, has experience with recovery (family member is in long term recovery) or is in long-term recovery (2 years free from substances), and is able to obtain or has obtained: Certified Peer Recovery Coach
  • Enjoy laughing and have a good sense of humor (potlucks too!)
  • Are dedicated to improving the lives of women, parents, and families in recovery

  • Value individual supervision yet would welcome having group supervision along with access to a consulting psychiatrist

As a Peer Advocate at Family Service & Children’s Aid, you will provide peer recovery support and case management services that help clients attain and/or maintain recovery from substance use and along with assisting them with improving their overall well-being by connecting with resources to meet their immediate needs in the areas of physical health, housing, transportation, education, employment, and issues that are specific barriers to parents in recovery. This position will assist with screening potential clients for services, facilitating educational groups, advocating for clients involved in probation and/or DHHS systems, and providing individual support. FSCA is sought after for SUD treatment due to our trauma informed approach and being the only Women’s and Parent Focused Specialty provider in our county. Women’s and Parent Focused Specialty services means we provide gender competent and parent focused treatment, assist with removing barriers that are specific to parents in recovery, and our target population are those parents at risk of losing custody of their children or are attempting to regain custody of their children.

Qualifications for position are as follows:

· Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate, through lived experience, a philosophy of commitment to recovery, families and children
  • Candidate does not have to be in long-term recovery (yet this is preferred, 2 years substance and alcohol free), however has personal experience related to recovery.
  • Have lived experience as a mother
  • Minimum education of at least high school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Coach or ability to obtain Certified Peer Recovery Coach through State of Michigan
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

· Preferred Qualifications but not required:

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Service, Psychology, or related field
  • Degree in non-related field will be considered if possess 2 years’ experience as case manager
  • Willingness to obtain a CADC Development Plan or currently has CADC through MCBAP
  • Experience as case manager or working in human service field

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
