SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a part-time salaried Social Worker for the Family Place Library in Huntington, NY. The Social Worker will serve the library patrons with social and emotional needs and provide case management, short-term counseling and crisis intervention, and facilitate referrals to mental health clinics and other community-based programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Social Worker will conduct intakes and assessments of individuals and families.
- Provide individual and family counseling.
- Co-facilitate library groups.
- The Social Worker will assist in linking eligible clients with public benefits and assist clients with applying.
- Provide linkage to more intensive mental health services.
- The Social Worker will provide referrals to higher levels of care.
- Provide crisis intervention, when needed.
- Document client contacts accurately and timely.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy required.
Minimum of four years of professional experience providing direct services to individuals and families in need.
At least 1 year of prior experience working with individuals with mental illnesses and their families required.
Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral processing required.
Must be able to perform suicide risk assessments and provide short term counseling.
Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires sitting for long periods of time.
