About the Data Collection and Entry Specialist Position
Family Service League is seeking a dedicated, organized, and detail-oriented Data Collection and Entry Volunteer Specialist to help us transfer large volumes of confidential information into our new database and keep our records current when we collect new data. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, and Quickbooks. The position requires reviewing the data for errors before inputting them into our new system. This is an unpaid, volunteer position, perfect for anyone looking to volunteer their time with a local non-profit organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Transfer confidential data from various sources (Excel, Quickbooks, Client Files) into the our databases
- Update databases or records with new information as it becomes available
- Correct and modify inaccurate files and records
- Comply with security backups and regular checks to ensure data is saved and stored properly
- Organize paper formats, paper backups, and material source files as needed
- Provide data from the databases for grant reporting
- Conduct discretion for confidential data
- Complete additional assigned tasks as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferably college student
- Previous experience in data entry or equivalent experience in a related field a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Eager to learn new skills and databases
- Able to quickly and accurately type and enter data; knowledge of touch typing system preferred
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of grammar and punctuation
- Ability to work to time constraints
- Computer literacy and familiarity with various computer programs to include MS Office (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work within tight time constraints
- Basic research and data collection skills (ability to manage multiple spreadsheets and consolidating information)
- 10-key skills preferred
- Proficient typing and transcription
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Terms & Conditions
The Data Collection and Entry Volunteer Specialist will work in office and remotely approximately 2-8 hours per week. The candidate will report to, and work closely with FSL’s Executive Director and Grants Manager.
