What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Support Staff position at Family Services of Chemung County, Inc?
Job Description: The individual hired for this position engages clients at the time of their referral and point of entry, supports their programmatic registration, and ensures they are scheduled for a timely 1st appointment in outpatient mental health services. During the intake process, the intake clinical support specialist may identify and provide other referral and social care needs, and complete initial screening and assessment (including assisting with risk assessment). They will ensure all relevant demographic information is collected, any client insurance is verified, and as needed, educates the client on our sliding fee availability. As the first point of contact, the intake clinical support specialist is the first individual responsible for supporting the client’s engagement in our care.
The individual hired for this position provides in-person and/or telehealth outpatient mental health and rehabilitative services to children, families, and/or adults. They will provide person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented services in a caring and compassionate manner supporting individuals through a holistic approach to their healthcare.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in a mental, behavioral or health sciences/services field is preferred. Previous experience working in a care management position or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. Individuals who do not meet the preferred educational requirements but are able to demonstrate significant and relevant experience for this position are also encouraged to apply, including Certified Peer Specialists.
