The specialist collaborates with families, schools, and service providers to promote positive outcomes and strengthen family well-being.
Qualifications: Candidates must have lived experience as a caregiver of a child with emotional or behavioral challenges and be certified or eligible for certification as a Family Peer Advocate. Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, helping them identify their goals and develop personalized action plans.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery strategies, coping mechanisms, and life skills.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in managing acute situations effectively.
- Offer mentorship and encouragement through motivational interviewing techniques to inspire positive change.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and community resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in addiction counseling and mental health support.
