Overview
The School-Based Therapist is responsible for providing services related to the delivery of mental health care to assigned students at a designated school location and will provide consultation services to the education staff to support the overall student wellness goals of the Medford School District (MSD). This position will be located in one of the elementary schools in the MSD.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, family therapy, and counseling to students for the purpose of conflict resolution, crisis intervention and implementation of quality mental health care with the ability to provide crisis counseling during critical incidents or other situations.
- Coordinate with Medford School District staff to provide both student mental health services and efforts of equity, ensuring all students have access to mental health support.
- Coordination may consist of consultations’ with teachers and/or administrators regarding mental health interventions and best practices
- Communicate with school staff, students, and parents regarding prevention and equity of service delivery and coordinate with staff to provide prevention-based materials to all students.
- Collect data and prepare a variety of reports for the purpose of documenting the efficacy of mental health services, percentage of population served, and equity efforts.
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to students’ treatment.
- Provide continuous student evaluation consistent with established teacher, school and district objectives, goals and policies for the purpose of advising consistent and effective mental health services to reach set goals.
- Refer students and their parents to appropriate resources, special programs, or outside agencies, refer to community-based resources as needed.
- Attend meetings with school staff, school-based counselors, and students for attendance, risk–to-self-assessments and threat to others assessments.
- Maintain high ethical standards with regard to treatment and client confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, community agencies, the public and clients.
- Uphold all agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in a mental health related field.
- Must meet QMHP requirements.
- Must be an excellent communicator with the skills to acknowledge the needs of others and recognizing various points of view.
- Ability to collaborate with others and advocate for clients and trauma informed practices.
- Must be able to clear a background check conducted through ODHS.
- Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook experience preferred.
