Position Title: Counseling Intake Specialist
Reports: Adult Counseling Services Supervisor
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Site: FSC Counseling Center
Summary: The Counseling Intake Specialist is responsible for providing crisis intervention and intake services to victims, and client related support to FSC’s Adult Counseling Services Department and Legal Services Department.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and intake services to victims who present at FSC’s counseling center in Montgomery, including the assessment of lethality and developing/ reviewing safety plans with the victim;
- Refer clients to other services as needed, including other FSC programs, appropriate community partners, law enforcement, and physical and mental health providers, etc.;
- Complete CAN reports as needed and follow required protocol;
- Coordinate counseling center client access to language services as appropriate and in accordance to agency policies and procedures;
- Complete appropriate intake forms, and submit to the Adult Counseling Services Supervisor;
- Track and report data regarding intakes for monthly reporting;
- Assist in training interns, volunteers and new intake staff to provide intake services and crisis intervention to victims (based on Protocol Manual);
- Coordinate intake office responsibilities and duties with interns and volunteers;
- Provide client related support to the Adult Counseling Services Department regarding intake procedures and documentation, client files, client case documentation, and DDS requests for client records;
- Provide support to the Victim Services Assistant in addressing intake related client issues, as needed;
- Attend supervision meetings with the Adult Counseling Services Supervisor as required;
- Submit complete and accurate client data, statistical reports, on a timely basis, and comply with other reporting requirements as required by agency policies and procedures; and
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in counseling psychology, social work, or related field.
- Experience in the field of family violence, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking.
- Demonstration of advanced professional skills in responding to client needs and facilitating appropriate interventions.

Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel to regional and national conferences as needed; Reliable car and valid Alabama driver’s license and automobile insurance required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
