ADVOCACY SERVICES COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Status : Full Time / Non-Exempt

Hours : Monday-Friday varies (on call coverage varies)

Reports to : Director of Advocacy Services

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Advocacy Services Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the advocacy department and serve as an intermediate supervisor for a team of six advocates. This role will also involve providing administrative support to the Director of Advocacy.

In addition, as a survivor advocate, you will be responsible for delivering crisis intervention services, which include accompanying survivors during sexual assault nurse examinations at hospitals and the children's advocacy center. You will provide emotional support, develop safety plans, and facilitate connections to resources tailored to the specific needs of each survivor.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and demonstrate a commitment to empowering survivors on their journey toward healing and recovery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Oversight of the statistical database will be maintained, including the monthly upload of grant-mandated statistical reports. This entails assessing and resolving any errors identified during the reporting period. Collaboration with other members of the Advocacy Team, including the Safe House Manager, will be essential for the accurate entry of statistical data.
  • Participation in responding to calls from the Northwest Texas Hospital Emergency Room, The Bridge Childrens Advocacy Center, and other medical facilities for interventions related to sexual assault and domestic violence will occur on a scheduled basis or as needed.
  • Coordination of speaking engagements and participation in community fairs for all Advocacy Team members will be undertaken, along with the maintenance of an active contact list to support ongoing community education and prevention efforts.
  • Timely communication with the Director of Advocacy will be upheld regarding staff or program needs. Support for other Advocacy Team members will be provided as a back-up, along with the performance of additional duties as assigned by the Director of Advocacy Services or the Chief Executive Officer.
  • The provision of trauma-informed care and emotional support to survivors throughout the crisis intervention process is a key responsibility. Implementation of all programmatic and agency protocols as directed will be ensured.
  • Safety assessments will be conducted, and individualized safety plans will be developed to support survivors in addressing their immediate and long-term safety needs. It will be essential to assist clients in navigating social systems to access desired services and alleviate any existing barriers.
  • Support will be provided to survivors in understanding their rights as victims, along with guidance through the legal and judicial processes. Facilitating support groups to foster community and healing among survivors will also be a priority.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, medical professionals, and social service agencies, will be undertaken to coordinate comprehensive services for survivors. Case management services will be provided to ensure that survivors have access to essential resources and ongoing support referrals.
  • Adherence to all laws, policies, and procedures of Family Support Services, as well as applicable state, city, county, and federal regulations, will be maintained. Attendance at required meetings is expected.
  • Confidentiality for clients will be safeguarded in accordance with federal, state, and agency guidelines, along with the confidentiality of the Safe House site. Accurate information will be timely entered and appropriately maintained in the database.
  • Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Case Management

  • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrates competency in forming relationships and coordinating with other agencies.
  • Demonstrates respect and caring to clients.
  • Formulates appropriate referrals.
  • Documentation

  • Completes all documentation thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Develops, implements, updates, and monitors progress on goals and objectives on individual case plans in a timely manner.

  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • This role requires a high level of empathy, resilience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries. Experience in crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or social services is preferred.A minimum of a Bachelors degree in human services field (counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral health science) an equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute for education.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License and proof of auto liability insurance.
  • Clean criminal background check.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Programs. Database knowledge helpful.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to sit at a desk and perform routine paperwork
  • Ability to communicate by telephone
  • Ability to travel between assigned work sites by automobile
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
