Job Summary
This position will be responsible for oversight of EFC, PESS, and AFC clients to assist the young adults in navigating the educational systems and employment opportunities. The Specialist will ensure that participants are scheduled for educational testing as needed, facilitate enrollment for GED testing as needed, facilitate the enrollment in appropriate academic or vocational programs, assist participants in accessing scholarship funding, tutoring, FASFA, enrollment and any other services necessary for the likelihood of their success. This position will also assist young adults by providing support, motivation and assistance in removing barriers to success in their program of study or employment. Additionally, the Specialist will oversee the funding from the grant that provides for critical needs of young adults enrolled in PESS or pending status for PESS in the event of an emergency presenting a barrier to continuing education, i.e., purchase of textbooks / educational supplies, emergency car repairs, mentoring / tutoring services, child care, etc. and will also play a critical role in identifying and supporting housing needs to ensure success, stability and a smooth transition to self-sufficiency. The Specialist will also be responsible for building partnerships with local employers to assist with employment opportunities for our young adults. The Specialist with work closely with our young adults to help remove any barriers and assist with stabilizing their employment and assisting the young adult with maintaining a steady income.
