Job Summary
Serve as a Housing Advocate to provide diversion/prevention assistance and rapid rehousing assistance (relocation and stabilization services) for child welfare involved families who are precariously housed, at-risk of homelessness or are unsheltered, including: rental application fees, security deposits, first/last months rent, housing search and placement, advocacy/mediation with landlords, legal services (eviction) and credit repair, short-term and/or median-term rental assistance. The Housing Advocate will assist in Parent Needs Assistance (PNAs) as needed. The Housing Advocate will keep track of and document all data related to families served. This is a grant funded position.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide crisis stabilization services, including hotel/motel, emergency shelter, community referrals, concrete needs (food, clothing, baby items, etc.), and advocacy to prevent family disruption.
- Assist families to obtain affordable permanent housing
- Provide housing stabilization services, including community referrals, concrete services, and advocacy to safely maintain families in current living situation.
- Track all referrals and data measures related to families served and monitor/document budget usage and tracking for the grant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology or Human Services from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Candidate should have experience working with at-risk children and/or families and be familiar with area resources, especially related to housing.
- Valid drivers license.
Schedule & Hours
Flexible Schedule Monday-Friday typically 8:30am-5pm
