Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role involves assisting with various tasks related to animal health and well-being, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring animals are comfortable and secure.
• Perform routine animal care tasks, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
• Some receptionist and computer work required
• Monitor animals recovering from anesthesia or medical procedures, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
• Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and training techniques.
• Utilize knowledge of animal physiology and dental terminology to assist in diagnostics and treatment plans.
• Provide support in veterinary critical care situations, demonstrating proficiency in animal restraint techniques.

Requirements

• Previous experience in animal care or as a veterinary technician is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of animal physiology, dental terminology, and veterinary practices is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with kennel operations and dog training techniques is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift and restrain animals safely when necessary.
• A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.38 - $14.95 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
