What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Culinary Education Coordinator position at Family Wellness LLC?
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide direct leadership to all healthy cooking programming and events including: the Healthy Cooking in the Classroom Program, on-site and community based programming, and other specialty programs/events. This includes supervision of all related personnel, volunteers, budgets, equipment, and supplies. Instruct, and conduct safe and effective healthy cooking and/or wellness education classes and programming.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Oversees and coordinates all activities for healthy cooking including budget, staffing, volunteers, equipment, and supply needs.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively coordinate and teach wellness related or healthy cooking courses in a fun and creative way that engages the participants. Adjusts instructions to the appropriate age and mix of participants.
- Leads hiring, training, and scheduling of staff for programming and effectively communicates job responsibilities along with providing feedback to ensure comprehensive performance reviews
- Provides coverage for department to assure scheduled shifts are adequately filled.
- Manages and maintains quality internships and volunteers for appropriate programs
- Shops for supplies, tracks inventory, creates a class plan and recipe handout, and provides accurate nutrition information for each program or event.
- Keeps equipment clean, repaired and functional, informing supervisor of maintenance needs immediately.
- Partners with area organizations to grow and provide collaborative programming for the community
- Provides method for assessing program outcomes and quality in order to best impact the health of the community and families.
- Promotes all aspects and benefits of the facility in a positive manner and by example.
- Be able to provide own transportation to on and off-site classes.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
Bachelor's degree in nutrition/dietetics, culinary arts, community health, public health, education, physical education, exercise science or related field preferred. Two years’ experience working in the field of study is required.
Have effective interpersonal and customer service skills, leadership skills, and expertise in wellness. Must be organized, detail oriented, and have knowledge of wellness, healthy cooking, nutrition, and exercise. Experience in program design, details and or special events coordination preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):
First Aid and CPR certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
