Job Overview:
The lead teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide a Christian atmosphere where the children in their class are loved, nourished, developmentally encouraged, and expertly cared for throughout each day.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all needs of the children are met.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with parents.
- Keep children clean at all times (face, nose, clothes, diaper, etc.)
- Ensure that all children are supervised at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
- Effectively lead assistant teachers and floaters.
- Help train new employees.
- Develop weekly lesson plans which include the A Beka curriculum materials.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as: games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
- Ensure proper classroom documentation: Medication administration, attendance records, and observation reports.
- Ensure emergency evacuation procedures are conducted efficiently and according to licensing regulations.
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations (Dept. of Health and Hospitals, Dept. of Education, and Fire Marshal).
Requirements:
- A lead teacher must be able to: effectively manage the care of children in the class, successfully lead fellow classroom employees, professionally communicate with parents, and maintain a loving classroom that is safe, clean, and developmentally encouraging
- Previous experience as a lead teacher is required.
- Minimum physical requirements include: lifting children, bending, squatting, pushing buggies, and standing/working on your feet for extended periods of time
Experience
- A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early education.
- Experience in private school settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and students.
